Egg Incubation Project

April 2007

For our third year, Child Care Plus students were able to hatch baby chicks and watch them grow feathers!  The children participated in observations as the eggs were in the incubator.  We saw inside the eggs with a flashlight, called candling, and listened to the chicks chirping inside the egg with a stethoscope.  When it was time, the students observed the chicks hatching!  This year we had 13 cute, fluffy baby chicks that the children were able to hold and play with.  We kept the chicks until their feathers started to grow in.  The children look forward to this project every year!
